Final Project: Sexual Revolution in the Media

These are the videos from our project. Unfortunately I could not upload the powerpoint itself but I think this gets the point across well enough. The goal of this project was to explore the prevalence of sexuality through various outlets of media, such as food advertisement and music.

  1. I think it is interesting that the majority of the food commercials we found containing sexual references were from fast food companies, like Jack in the Box, Carl's. Jr., or Burger King. Also, beer commercials for products like Bud Light often contain sexual references. I wonder if this trend has a deeper significance. It may just be that these companies think that sexual ads will be most effective for their target audiences. Or perhaps these foods are ones that are more closely associated with sex by the mind, and sexuality in their advertisements is therefore more effective. No matter what, the prevalence of sex in food commercials is surprisingly high, and quite entertaining.
